  1. i live the bay area, work in the city every day and although SF is nice, def not #1 place to visit in cali. the city has a lack of public restrooms and a large homelessness problem so there is TONS of human excrement and needles everywhere. In some areas you can smell ll the poo and pee on the ground. just google "fecal bacteria streets of sf" and you'll find tons of articles.

  2. According to this, LA encompasses everything from Santa Monica, to Hollywood, to Anaheim (Disneyland)… but San Fran got the top spot?

    I don't think so…

  3. Yeah the list really has to be the top 30-50 places to see in California. You could take ten vacations here from another state and not see half of what there is to see, it's like nature packed a ton of good stuff in this area. Monterey (Cannery Row, the huge aquarium, this small city is as busy as it gets all summer long), Big Sur (as mentioned) and the entire Coast Highway, Highway 1, the Sierra Nevada, you have to see the big trees in Sequoia, you will not believe how big they are when you stand at the base, Sutter's Mill where gold was discovered on the American River in California near a small town called Coloma, there is an old brick jail still standing there along with other historic wooden structures. Just a drive through the center of the state during summer and you see why it is called The Golden State, other than gold being discovered here. The grass covers the small hills everywhere and during summer it turns golden.

  4. In the Lake Tahoe section, "wide length"? Which are we talking about here, width or length? It straddles both California. It seems, with this wording, that it somehow is able to straddle California and Nevada individually, since you say it straddles both. (???) The specific year in the '60s that the Winter Olympics were held in Squaw Valley was 1960. Aside from all of the above, the footage is stunning.
