We are in front of Vindhyagiri of Sharavanabelagola also known as Gommateshwara hill Let’s go and have a darshana of Gomateshwara There are 620 steps to climb up For those who cannot climb up The “pallaki” service is available The service costs Rs. 1500 per head Up and down service Here is a fort and a fort door like structure White Pond during the month of the Shravana that is how its Sharavanabelagola That’s the pond visible below That other hill is Chandragiri (not kanakagiri as I have mentioned) I have made a video of chandragiri hill as well There are 14 ancient Jain Basadis above it Click the link above to view it The Odegal Basadi is named so because of the stone proportions placed against its basement This temple has three shrines hence it’s called thrikuta basadi This is tyaga da kamba (pillar of sacrifice) This pillar was carved in 10 century A little ahead a basadi and a mantapa is visible Let’s explore This is Chennanna Basadi In front of it is the Manasa Stamba Along with an open mantapa and a small pond Manasa stamba is 30ft high Chennanna Basadi has been built connected to this boulder The statue is etched on this boulder as well The statue is etched on this boulder as well This boulder was supposed to be till here This has been cut such and then the statue carved from of it This is Akhanda Bagilu There a door on the other side of the temple let’s explore There is another stair way for entry and exit This setup was done for the purpose of Mahamasthakabhishekha This is Gullu Kai Ajji (Egg plant granny) mantapa The granny had brought milk in a small brinjal This milk covered the whole of 58 feet Gommateswara statue Later it was known that it was Kusumandini Devi who had appeared in the form of this granny This is a 58 feet tall, more than 1000 years old, monolithic Bahubali statue This is world’s tallest monolithic stone statue This image was created during the period of Chamundaraya a minister of the Ganga King Rajamalla between 982 and 983 CE

Shravanbelgola is one of favourite place .I liked the statue of Bhagwan Bahubali who sacrificed everything and attained spiritual enlightenment.I had visited the place in December 2013.It was an especially divine experience.I am planning to visit this place on next Saturday.Really Awesome place in Karnataka.
