Cultural heritage is
so much more than bricks and stones. It is an extremely important domain where cooperation
between people at various levels, local, regional, national and European
can contribute to social cohesion, that’s why this European Year of
Cultural Heritage is so important because it is precisely
putting an emphasis of how much cultural heritage is a positive
and cohesive force for the future of Europe. This is a most inspiring topic
to teach in classrooms and it is definitely one that can both
foster diversity and the sense of community. In fact, as I said, this is such
an important investment in the young generation. The people are amazing. Everybody is
so communicative and I’m loving that. Everybody is so open, warm, nice,
everybody exchanging experiences. The networking part really works great.
I had my doubts about it but they’ve really shown how great
acceptance is in the eTwinning network. It is never a static concept. Everybody who comes to live here
is bringing its own contribution. It is an involving concept and
for many many centuries, even for millennia, we have been in fact interacting. eTwinning is the best platform to meet
not like soul mates but our professional soul mates. It is extremely important to share
stories of the past to build a better future, especially now with these times. Every single heritage site in Europe
is not telling us only a national story. It is telling us a local story, a regional story,
a national one and a European story. In every single place,
you can find the European story.
