Hello, welcome to my humble abode.
I’m Holly and I study electronic music production and that’s part of our
music technology courses at UWL and this vlog is gonna be on making the most
of your summer. If you’ve seen any of my other vlogs you’ve probably seen me
wandering around the Uni make a fool of myself and and now I’m in the living room because Uni’s finished for the summer. And what do I do for four months? Oh man, how sad is that? um yeah, I could really do with a
fourth student loan right now! Yeah that’s that’s not happening till
September so yeah I think we need some part-time work or some full-time
work to fund our drinking and take away habits as students so and that’s what I’ll
be doing and that’s why I’m wearing the blue ambassador shirt because I had another
shift today. Our student ambassadors usually work like the open days, various
other events. It’s good fun, you meet lots of cool people so yeah I’m gonna be
finding another job over the summer yes, yes she says. We’re so lucky to live in London.
I reckon probably the most diverse city in the world for music scene. There’s
something for everybody in London, and even more local to UWL in Gunnersbury Park there’s a couple of festivals going on in July. A couple of day
festivals. There are little festivals. There was a carnival, Hanwell carnival the other
week which I stumbled upon. Then there is some Hungarian day
in Lammas park which is just down the road from the Uni as well. So there’s so much good
stuff going on this summer and do make the most of it whilst your here. I’ve got a
bit of London in my living room and me and my housemates we found this in the skip.
Isn’t it crazy? People throw so much away. On the subject of free things and
finding things in skips, this is something else I picked up the other day…
A massive whiteboard so that’s where I’m gonna write loads of my ideas for next
terms projects. Who’s shouting at me upstair? Okay so maybe a little bit sick
of doing Uni work because you’ve been doing it for the past eight or nine
months but do you want to get ahead of the game maybe a little bit for
September. You probably think I’m bonkers. Shut up Holly, that is the last thing I
want to be doing right now. But I’m gonna be going to my third year and that
means major project and that means a lot of work. I’ve actually got some quite good ideas but
they’re quite ambitious and I think within the time frame, they’re probably not
very realistic unless I start thinking about them now. So maybe that’s what you wanna
do, just have a think of some ideas of how you can put your own stamp
on these on these assignments because you get out what you put in. I must admit it’s
not easy because you don’t have a structure over the summer you don’t have
you don’t have a deadline. It’s not easy to motivate yourselves. But this is what
I’m gonna do and maybe this is helpful for you is spending an hour maybe that’s
too much, or maybe half an hour half an hour a day on something like, I don’t
know, your major projects or if you have a particular personal goals.
So I guess to summarise… Oh gosh, it feels as though I’m writing an essay. Yes, so
let your hair down, have a bit of fun get some work in so you’ve got money to have some
more fun in September. Maybe if you feel like it just dip your toes in to a
little bit of uni work in September and as I said, put your own stamp on
your own Uni work and you’ll get the most out of it. Hope that was useful.
I might not see any of you till September wandering around Uni. So
have great summer and I will see you then.
