Hello everyone, thank you for joining me,
I’m Kerri. Today I’ll be showing you how to crochet this plate of biscuits and
the cake which will go on the plaid picnic blanket which is part of my
series of the teddy bears picnic baby blanket. This will be the last crocheted
item for the baby blanket. Next week I’ll be showing you how to put it all
together. I’ll be using 4 ply crochet cotton.
I’ve got yellow for the plate. I’ve got a creamy color, orange, light brown, dark
brown and white for the cake and the biscuits. I’ve got scissors. I’ve got a
1.5 millimeter crochet hook, a darning needle to weave in the ends and a sewing
needle and thread to stitch them together. Now I’ll start on my biscuits.
I’m going to have 6 biscuits on the plate. I’ve got 2 chocolate chip cookies.
For those I just work 1 section for each biscuit. So I’ll have for the
chocolate chip biscuits 2 cream sections. For the delta creams I’ll have 2 brown
sections for each biscuit and 1 white section. And for these orange slices I’ll
have 2 cream sections for each biscuit and 1 orange section. So I’ll start on
a section. I start with a magic loop. So I put my hook on my cotton, bring the short
end over the hook, take the long end over the short end to make a circle. Put the
yarn around the hook and bring my hook with that yarn at the end through the
circle. And there’s my magic loop. Then I work 1 chain. Into my circle I’m going
to work 6 single crochet. A single crochet is a double crochet in the UK.
For a single crochet I put the hook in through the circle and bring back a loop. Yarn
around the hook and take the hook with this yarn at the end through both loops.
And that’s 1 single crochet, I need 5 more. When I’ve worked my 6 single crochet I take hold
of the tail and ease the circle in and I join with a slip stitch in the top of
the first stitch. So I put my hook into the first stitch, bring through a loop
and take it straight through the loop on my hook and fasten off. And I’ll need to
work all the sections for the other biscuits. Next I’m going to crochet a
plate. Both the plates are worked the same. I’m
using my yellow and I make a magic loop and work 1 chain. Into my circle I work
3 half double crochet. A half double crochet is a half treble in the UK. For a
half double crochet I put the yarn around the hook. Hook into
the circle and bring back a loop. Yarn around the hook and take the hook with
my yarn at the end through all the loops. And I need 2 more half double crochet. Next I work 3 treble into my circle. A
treble is a double treble in the UK. For a treble we put the yarn around the hook
twice. Hook in through the circle and bring back and loop. Yarn around the hook,
take the hook through 2 loops. Yarn around the hook, take the hook through
2 more loops. Yarn around the hook and take the hook through the remaining 2
loops. And we need 2 more treble. Then we work 6 half double crochet
into the circle. Next we work 3 treble into our circle. And lastly we work 3 half double
crochet into the circle. Then we pull our circle tight and join
with a slip stitch in the top of the first stitch. For row 2 we start with 2
chain and work 1 double crochet in the first stitch. A double crochet is a
treble in the UK. For a double crochet we put the yarn around the hook. Hook into
the stitch and bring through a loop. Yarn around the hook, take the hook
through 2 loops. Yarn around the hook, take our hook
through the remaining 2 loops. Then we work 2 double crochet into the next
stitch and 1 double crochet into the following stitch. And we repeat that
right round the row. So 2 double crochet into the next stitch and 1
double crochet into the following stitch right around our row. And slip stitch into the top of the
first stitch. For row 3 we start with 1 chain and work a single crochet into
each of the first 4 stitches and work 2 single crochet into the
next stitch. And we repeat that right round the row. So 1 single crochet into
each of the next 4 stitches and 2 single crochet into the following stitch. And we repeat that right around to the
end of the row. 1 single crochet into each of the next 4 stitches and 2
into the following stitch. And we slip stitch in the top of the
first stitch and fasten off and I’ll need to pull my circle in tighter. And
that’s the plate done. Now for the cake, the 2 cake sections and the filling in
the middle are worked the same, but the icing at the top is worked differently.
I’ll start on 1 of these brown cake sections. It’s going to be a chocolate
cake again, so I’m using light brown. I make a magic
loop and start with 3 chain and I work 16 treble into my circle. A treble
is a double treble in the UK. You put your yarn around the hook twice at the
beginning. So 16 treble into the circle. I pull the circle tight and slip stitch
in the top of the first stitch and fasten off. And I’ll need to work 1
more light brown section and a white section for the filling. Now the icing is
worked similar to the bottom of the cake, except I’m going to have some chain and
slip stitches to make it look like there’s icing dripping down the side of
the cake. Now I’ve got my dark brown and I start with a magic loop and work 3
chain and then I work 2 treble into my circle. A treble is a double treble in
the UK. You put your yarn around the hook twice at the beginning. Then I work 3 chain. I miss the first
chain and work 1 slip stitch into each of the remaining 2 chain and
then slip stitch into the top of the last treble. And then I work 3 more
treble into the circle. I’m going to work another drip of
icing down now, but if you didn’t want as many you could work some more treble in
your circle. I’m going to work 2 chain this time and miss the first chain and
work a slip stitch in the next 1 and then a slip stitch into my last treble.
And then I work 2 more treble into my circle. 3 chain, miss the first chain and slip
stitch into the remaining 2 chain and slip stitch into the last treble. And
then I’ll work 3 treble. And work 2 chain, miss 1 chain and
slip stitch into the last chain and slip stitch into the last treble. And then I’ll
work 3 treble into my circle. 3 chain, miss the first chain and slip
stitch into each remaining chain. Slip stitch into the top of the last treble
and work 2 treble into my circle. Work 2 chain, miss 1 chain and slip stitch
into the last chain, actually I’ll just slip stitch into the top of the treble
this time, just make it look a bit different. And then work 1 treble into
my circle. Pull the circle tight, slip stitch into the top of the first
stitch. Work 2 chain, just for an extra drip and fasten off. And that’s the icing
done. Now I’m going to add a little white flower to the top of my cake just to
cover up the circle in the middle. So I start with a magic loop. Work 2 chain
and slip stitch into my circle. And I repeat that 4 more times. 2 chain and
slip stitch into the circle. 2 chain and slip stitch into the circle and 2 more. I’ve got my 5 petals, so I pull my circle tight
and fasten off. And that’s the flower for the top done. Now I’ll just make another
plate and 2 more sections for the bottom of the cake and all the other
biscuit sections and I’ll be back and we’ll put it together. Now there’s all my
pieces. I’ve got 2 plates. I’ve got 14 biscuit pieces. I’ve got 2 cake parts
and the filling part. I’ve got a flower and the icing part. Now the first things
I’ll do is I’ll embroider little chocolate chips on to those 2 and I’ll
attach the cream biscuits together. I put the orange in the middle of 2
creams for the orange slice and for the delta creams I put the white in the
middle of 2 browns, like that. And I stitch through all the layers around the
edges. For the cake I put a brown piece at the bottom, then a white piece and
then a brown piece. I have them even and I’ll put the icing on the top and I
stitch through all the layers around the edge. So I’ll do that and I’ll be back.
Now the next things I’ll do is stitch the icing pieces down over the cake and attach the flower in the middle. And then
I’ll attach the cake and all the biscuits
to the plate. I’ll just arrange them probably similar to that and then I’ll
be back to show you the finished cake and biscuits. And there’s the finished
picnic food. If you’ve liked my video please like, subscribe and share. I’m also
