Two-feet and a Heartbeat walking tours was
the brainchild of Ryan Z and Ryan M who saw the opportunity to share Perth’s unique and long over looked heritage and stories with tourists They soon discovered both tourists and locals
alike love the concept and now their team of tour guides offer a range of walking tours including urban adventures, shopping tours and pub tours in the Perth and Fremantle
area After starting the business they quickly took up the opportunity to apply for tourism accreditation,
which they’ve experienced numerous benefits from Not only does the tourism accreditation
program offer businesses development tools and resources to ensure their ongoing sustainability but also the tick logo clearly highlights tourism businesses that have been recognised as professional, ethical and
reliable by the tourism industry We found the accreditation process very painless actually,
is the best way to put it um… right from the start the information that is given to you is concise and there’s really no kind of having to go back to many times,
what do you mean by this or What does this question mean?
It’s very, very straight forward and all things being equal,
if you’ve started up your business you will have a lot of stuff already at hand so it’s drawing upon information that you already have close but then you use the relationship with the guys at the Tourism Council to actually help put it together in a concise way that it becomes your accreditation, so very, very easy to do, and very well worth while Yeah, it can be time consuming if you don’t have a lot of time to start with but you got to look at it is time worth investing So it will take up a bit of your time because essentially what your going to be doing is
going through amongst other things a business plan as part of it um… things that go you through,
how you actually run your business on a day to day level,
health and safety issues, those types of things need to be
addressed, so it can be time consuming but if you’ve already
done those things in the setup of your business which generally speaking you should have then it won’t be as time-consuming but it’s still good to go back over those things and have someone look over it,
that’s a bit more trained than you are to help you through it The resources they provide are practical um.. mostly from the form of electronic data,
that’s the way we chose to do it because that’s the type of business that we run but it’s all very practical using straight forward terminology The most rewarding part of the process of the accreditation is knowing that your business is running at a standard that is has reached the benchmark of what’s actually expected from an operator in Western Australia So you know you you’ve kind of put enough work to show that your in the same league as a lot of other well established operators and knowing
that you’re up there in that kind of category is a rewarding thing There are businesses benefiting from being accredited on a day to day basis Mostly probably through networking,
I guess the accreditation is something you do straight up um… And you review it from time to time as well,
and make sure you are on top of it all, but Once you’re in that network, like I said you’re in a network of organisations with high expectations and so to be able to mingle with those and build those networks and relationships that’s probably one of the best part about it The accreditation tick logo we actually find that as something that is valuable Once you through the accreditation process that’s your symbol that you’ve actually gone through and completed the process And there is an element of recognition to that and there’s also, I guess there is an element of credibility as well that there is a uh…
higher organisation within tourism, in this case Tourism Council, that you are meeting their minimum standards to be in the industry over here, so we found that the actual tick does get a lot of credit in the industry
